Who is God?
The God of the Bible is the Creator, Lover, and Savior of creation. The God of the Bible is so far beyond our total comprehension that even God’s main name in the Old Testament (the first part of the Bible) simply means “I Am.”
The Biblical writers use metaphors to describe who God is for them. When in a storm, they needed a Rock. When being oppressed they needed a judge etc. Among the metaphors used for God in the book of Psalms are: Shepherd, King, Judge, Mother, Father, Lion, Bear, Eagle, Rock.
